Mary’s
Dowry Productions launched a new film, now on the great Saint John of the
Cross, “a Spanish mystic, a Catholic Saint, a Carmelite friar and a priest who
was born at Fontiveros, Old Castile in 1542. In this film we look at the
inspiring life of Saint John who, along with Saint Teresa of Ávila, founded the
Discalced Carmelites.
Saint John's devotions, prayers, writings and poetry
as well as his studies on the growth of the soul are considered as well as his
sufferings, love of the Passion and of the Cross. He was a major figure of the
Counter-Reformation. His biography contains a wealth of inspiration relevant
for today.
Sacred art, paintings, photographs, a simple costumed
visual, scenery, narrative and music combine to present a creative, detailed
and devotional film presentation of the life of St. John of the Cross.
This is not a 'movie' produced for entertainment
neither is it purely a biographical documentary, this is a creative way to
learn the life of St. John of the Cross with visual aids to help the narrative
flow”.
